In short

• Observations are stored on your phone.
• Vestigio has no access to them and runs no server that receives them.
• Data only leaves the phone when you export it, run a co-observation or connect to a Google spreadsheet.
• The teacher's name never leaves the app.

Data stored on the phone

The details you enter (observer's name, teacher's name, municipality, school, grade, class, subject, number of students and notes) and the coding of the observation. The data remains until you delete the observation or uninstall the app.

Export

When you export, a CSV file is created that you send or share yourself. The teacher's name is never included. With the Share anonymously option, observer, school, class and comments are also left blank.

Co-observation

During a co-observation, observation data is sent between the participating phones over Bluetooth. Nothing is sent over the internet.

Google Sheets

If you choose to connect the app to Google Sheets:

• You sign in with your Google account and grant the app permission to read and write spreadsheets (https://www.googleapis.com/auth/spreadsheets).
• The app uses this permission only for the spreadsheet you created in the app or chose to connect to. The app does not list, read or change any other files.
• You choose which observations are sent. For each chosen observation, a summary is sent directly from the phone to the spreadsheet: time, series ID, municipality, observer's name, school, subject, grade, class, number of students, notes, measurement point and results. The teacher's name is never sent.
• The data goes directly between the phone and Google. It does not pass through Vestigio.
• The spreadsheet is owned by whoever created it, for example a municipality or school, which is the data controller for its content. Google processes the data under Google's terms.
• You can disconnect the spreadsheet and sign out in the app at any time, and revoke the app's access at myaccount.google.com/permissions.

FOCUS's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

This website

This website uses no cookies and no analytics. It is published via GitHub Pages, which keeps technical logs (including IP addresses) under GitHub's privacy statement.
